About the Author

डॉ. सुमित सरकार दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय में इतिहास के प्रोफेसर हैं। उनकी शिक्षा प्रेजीडेंसी कॉलेज, कलकत्ता, में हुई और कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय से उन्होंने पी-एच.डी. की उपाधि प्राप्त की। तदुपरांत वे बर्दवान विश्वविद्यालय और कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय में प्राध्यापक रहे और वोल्फसन कालिज, ऑक्सफोर्ड, में आमंत्रित फैलो भी रहे। डॉ. सुमित सरकार की पूर्व प्रकाशित कृतियों में स्वदेशी मूवमेंट इन बंगाल: 1903-8 (नई दिल्ली, 1973) उल्लेखनीय है। इसके अतिरिक्त उन्होंने उन्नीसवीं और बीसवीं शताब्दी के भारतीय इतिहास पर अनेक शोधपत्र भी लिखे हैं।.
